Letter Bites Letter Hunt

A Fun Learning Activity for Toddlers and Preschoolers.

Post by Marie

We're going a little letter crazy with Kellogg's Clever Kids Letter Bites. Not only are they fun to eat, but they're helping us practice our letter sounds, making learning fun. We're going on a letter hunt, to find objects that start with our Clever Kids Letter Bite letters.

Supplies for Letter Bites Letter Hunt:

One package Clever Kids Letter Bites
Objects from around the house
Pencil and paper, optional

Open up your fruit snacks package and see what letters you have. Talk with your child about each letter and what sound it makes. Then choose 4-6 letters, or more depending on the age and ability of your child, and set them out on the table. I chose letters that I knew my preschooler would know. We said each letter, made the sound, and thought of something that started with that letter. Then my preschooler was on the hunt, looking for an object that started with each letter.

We started with the letter "D" and my daughter came up with the word "dog". Off she went, searching her room for her favorite dog, Murphy. Next was the letter "A". We found an apple in the fridge. We continued until we matched all your letters with an object that starts with that sound. My daughter even continued on, finding more things for each letter.

An optional activity for an older child is to have them write the words to the objects you find. My 1st grade son got out some paper and a pencil, taking the learning a little further.

He wrote the word for each of the objects my daughter found, trying his best to sound out each letter to the word. He even got pretty close to spelling them all correct.

Then came the best part... eating the fruit snacks when we were all finished! It was the perfect snack after our letter hunt activity.
